Accessing Your Villanova Email
In
the summer of 2007, Villanova's Department of University Information
Technologies (UNIT) converted all of its student, faculty and staff
email accounts to a Microsoft Exchange 2007 server. An Exchange server stores all of a
user's including email, calendars, contacts, tasks,
etc. in one place so that these things are easily accessible from
anywhere.
Villanovans will access the Villanova Exchange server one of two
ways:
- Via Outlook 2007 - Full-time faculty and staff will use
Outlook 2007 from their office PC's to connect to our Exchange
server. This connection should be automatic as long as you are
logged into Villanova's network. To learn more about Outlook 2007,

- Via Outlook Web Access (OWA) - Students, part-time staff,
and adjunct faculty will use OWA. Full-time faculty and staff should
also use OWA when they are away from campus. To learn more about
OWA, click here.
While all Villanova students, faculty and staff are on the Exchange
server, only full-time faculty and staff with Villanova-issued Dell
computers will be able to use the full version of Outlook 2007. All
others will use the fully-functional Outlook Web Access. To read more
about the different ways to access your email,

If you are a student, part-time staff, or adjunct faculty member and
you have Outlook 2003/2007 installed on your computer, while you may be
able to connect to our email server to download your Villanova email,
you will not be able to connect to Villanova's Exchange server to
utilize the full functionality of Exchange. Therefore, it is highly
recommended that you do not attempt to use Outlook 2007 to download your
Villanova email; rather, use Outlook Web Access (OWA). |
