Getting Started

To access the VPN from off campus, connect to the Internet through your ISP and use Internet Explorer (Netscape won’t work):

• go to https://gateway.villanova.edu
• At the login screen enter your LDAP username and password. Once authenticated you will be presented with a start page.

Using the Gateway

Files

The Files Section allows you to connect through the SSL gateway to University file shares through bookmarks that may be defined for your department or user id. Users can store their own Windows Share bookmarks as part of their user profile by entering the UNC path (\\servername\share) to the share in the Browse bar. Navigate to the folder you wish to bookmark and click the "Bookmark Current Folder" icon.

SSL VPN

To Launch the VPN, click on Start next to Network Connect and follow the prompts including certificate acceptance..
Once connected an icon will appear in the systray (lower right of screen by clock).
While connected, any application request to a VU system will be redirected through the gateway. Non VU requests will simply use your regular network/ISP connection.

Checking Status and Disconnecting

To disconnect or check the status of your connection, simply click or right click the Network Connect icon as you would a dial-up connection. Select “Exit or "Sign Out” to disconnect. "Basic" or “Advanced View” will provide status details and other information on your session.
