U-Vault File Restoration Instructions

These instructions are to restore a file or files from your U-Vault account. If your computer has had a hard drive replacement, replaced, or needed to be re-ghosted, you must first reinstall U-Vault to your system prior to executing the following steps:

You will be prompted for your UVault ID and password during re-installation.
If you do not know your ID and password Click Here.

  • Download and run U-Vault.exe
  • Click on the Restore Tab near the top of the screen
  • Navigate through the folder tree on the left side of the form and check off the files that you want to restore.
  • Click the Restore Now button.

Below are some screen shots that show the process visually.

On the restore tab you will typically see all the files that have been saved in prior sessions. If you do not see files that you know have been backed up you can right-click on the Desktop option and select Get Volume List from Server. This will typically automatically occur.

During the above process you might see a window such as this

If you want to restore a particular version of a file you can right-click on the file and select Backup History. This will indicate the versions of the file that are stored on the server. You can pick the one you want to restore. By default it will restore the most recent one.

Once you click the Restore Now button you will see a form such as this. You have the option to restore the files in the original location or to a temporary folder. If the files were deleted on your computer you probably should select the original locations option.

When it is completed! Clicking More>> will show the files that have been restored. This information is also saved in the Logs tab.
