Dan Malone '90
Reunions are important milestones and the perfect occasion to commemorate the Villanova experience. Dan Malone ’90 is honoring his twenty fifth reunion by supporting an area that has a special significance to him. A member of Villanova’s New York Regional Campaign Committee, Dan put a lot of thought into his generous gift not only to honor his four years at Villanova, but to support the current Campaign, For the Greater Great: The Villanova Campaign to Ignite Change, in a meaningful way. Dan was particularly passionate about the Center for Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (ICE Center).
"I feel in this day and age it is imperative for education to go beyond the text book and classroom and for it to take students into real world applications. The collaborative nature of the Center drawing students not just from within VSB but from all other disciplines adds necessary new dimensions to the creative and entrepreneurial process. My Uncle Tom O'Brien ’60, a strong supporter of the ICE Center and its goals passed away this past year. I could think of no better way of celebrating his memory than with an endowment honoring him and a part of Villanova in which he too shared a passion."
Although located within Villanova School of Business, the ICE Center has a multi-disciplinary focus and seeks to advance the University's strategy by fostering cross-college learning and embedding entrepreneurial thinking more deeply in the Villanova culture. The Center’s signature program, “Pitch Day” brings together students from across campus to have their business plans and entrepreneurial work evaluated by distinguished faculty, alumni, and parent judges.
The ICE Center is one of the many new programs on Campus and we hope will join Villanovans on campus June 4-7 at Reunion 2015 to reconnect with friends and learn about the University today as well as the exciting plans for the future.
