The Arab and Islamic Studies offers a major as a specialization in Global Interdisciplinary Studies (GIS) major.  The major in Arab and Islamic Studies provides an interdisciplinary and comparative approach to deepen students' understandings of the history, culture, religion, politics, literature, and society of the Arab world. Students may sign up for the major and choose their Arab and Islamic Studies specialization through the Department of Global Interdisciplinary Studies in 36 Garey Hall. The GIS Chair and the  Program Director of Arab and Islamic Studies will work closely with each student to develop their individual interests, abilities, and career goals while fulfilling the requirements for their major.

Additional Information

AIS is committed to student and faculty learning. So the Center organizes lectures, film series, conferences, discussions, and outreach programs for the University and the Greater Philadelphia communities, in addition to hosting academic seminars by well-known scholars.
