What Our Students Say

We asked two graduates why they chose to major in Cultural Studies:

Alina Guido--"The major in Cultural Studies is great for students with multiple interests. Because "Cultural Studies" can be so broad, the curriculum is very flexible. I love that I was able to take courses in political science, sociology, and even art history -- and it all counted toward my Cultural Studies major. The interdisciplinary approach has helped me in discerning my path for post-graduate studies in which I hope to research environmental and agricultural policy on an international spectrum."

Grace Lassiter--"Majoring in Cultural Studies at Villanova University provided me with the academic rigor and cultural diversity to achieve my goals both inside and outside the United States. This program offered an invaluable breadth of knowledge that encouraged me to study abroad and discover my passion for public health. Cultural Studies will continue to be a foundation that I can draw upon as I strive to ignite change in a global healthcare setting."

What is Cultural Studies

Stuart Hall

“What [do] cultural changes amount to? [Are] there new emergent cultural forces and tendencies? Above all, how [are] these historical processes to be qualitatively undestood and assessed?

Cultural Studies [is] a set of disciplines addressing relevant issues about contemporary society.”

Stuart Hall, cultural theorist,
founding figure of British Cultural Studies.
