Mentors

A mentor is a trusted business professional and role model who shares their knowledge and experience with someone junior to them, known as a mentee.  A mentor listens, advises, coaches, and provides feedback to support a mentee’s growth and development.

In the VSB Mentor Program, alumni mentors share interviewing and job search tips, networking leads, and industry insights.  Mentors range from the Class of 1982 to the Class of 2013 and represent over 150 different industries.

Since joining the VSB Mentor Program, I have developed and strengthened invaluable relationships with not only my mentee, but other members of the program and the program's leadership. The program effectively matches mentors with current students in their chosen field, allowing an initial connection to be formed on topics such as current course load and upcoming internship opportunities. However, it is through effective networking and periodic communication that a true link between the classroom and the "real world" is formed for each pair. This program promotes personal growth on all sides, and fosters a positive, encouraging environment for students as they navigate the start of their careers. I look forward to the program expanding its reach and influence to more members of the VSB community, and am excited for its continued success."
