Gary A. Gabriele, Dean of the College of Engineering

The Rev. Edmund J. Dobbin, O.S.A., president of Villanova University, announced the appointment of Dr. Gary A. Gabriele as dean of the College of Engineering at Villanova University effective August 1, 2006.

Gabriele comes to us from his position as division director, Engineering Education and Centers at the National Science Foundation where he has served since 2004. Prior to NSF, Gabriele was vice provost for Administration and dean of Undergraduate Education at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and professor of Mechanical Engineering.

Prior to joining RPI in 1984, Gabriele was a lecturer at Georgia Institute of Technology and an associate scientist at Lockheed-Georgia Company. He served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Army Institute for Research in Management Information and Computer Science.

Gabriele received his B.Sc. from Norwich University M.Sc. and his Ph.D from Purdue University.
