Villanova Selected by ISPE for Inaugural Partnership Program

The International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE) selected Villanova’s College of Engineering as one of 10 North American universities to join in a partnership with its members. The selection was based on the strength of the College’s research in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology area, current course offerings in this area, as well as the College’s interest and experience in working with industry.

ISPE’s mission is to foster technologic innovation leading to the development and manufacture of affordable medicines. ISPE represents 25,000 professionals in the pharmaceutical industry working in more than 80 countries. The organization has begun a global initiative to select a small number of top engineering schools around the world to pursue areas of cooperation, including research partnerships, industry speakers at student events, real-world case studies for the curriculum, internships, and other linkages.

ISPE selected Villanova after meeting with Dr. William Kelly in the Department of Chemical Engineering in the fall. Villanova also has an active ISPE student chapter, which was one of the selection criteria.

To date the other colleges chosen for the partnership are: Rutgers, Purdue, Stevens Institute of Technology, University of California at Davis, University of California at San Diego, Duquesne, and New Jersey Institute of Technology. Two other will be chosen in the coming months.
