CAC Director Represents US at NATO Meeting in Pisa, Italy

Dr. Moeness Amin, Director of the College of Engineering’s Center for Advanced Communications (CAC), attended the fourth NATO Task Group SET-100/RTG056 meeting on Sensing Through the Wall Technologies at the Ingegneria dei Sistemi (IDS), Pisa, Italy, November 13-15, 2007.

Dr. Amin gave a 90 minute talk, presenting the most recent research work done by the CAC team. The title of his talk was “Advances in Through-the-Wall Radar Imaging.” Dr. Amin actively participated in a two-day comprehensive discussion on the state of technology and its potential applications. It is noteworthy that Villanova University was the only academic institution attending the meeting. All other participants were delegations of their government defense sectors.

Attendance at the meeting was by invitation only. The meeting was attended by Moeness Amin (CAC, USA), Giovanni Alli and Gaetano DePasquale (Ingegneria Dei Sistemi (IDS), Italy), Enrico Guadalupi (NATO Coordinator, Italy), Greg Barrie and David DiFilippo (Defense Research and Development Canada (DRDC), Canada), Tor Berger (Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI), Norway), Morgan Brishoual (DGA/Service of the Programs of the Terrestrial Armament (SPART), France), Patrick Millot (ONERA, France), and Anthony Lisuzzo, Wilbur Chin, and Douglas Cohen, all from I2WD/U.S. Army Communications-Electronics RD&E Center (CERDEC), USA. Task Group SET-100/RTG056 held its first meeting at the Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate (I2WD), Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, USA, during January 24-26, 2006, the second meeting was hosted by ONERA, during October 24-26, 2006, in Toulouse, France, and the third meeting at the Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate (I2WD), Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, on April 25-26, 2007. The fifth meeting of the NATO task group will be held in Norway during April 2008.
