Dr. Robert Traver Named President-Elect of AAWRE

Dr. Robert Traver, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering

After serving three years as a member of the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Water Resource Engineers (AAWRE), Dr. Robert Traver, Professor and Director of both the Villanova Center for the Advancement of Sustainability in Engineering and the Villanova Urban Stormwater Partnership, has been elected President-Elect of the organization. His three-year term began Oct. 1, and he will become president a year later.

“I’m so pleased to continue my work with AAWRE and to work with my fellow diplomats to advance the profession. It is an honor to be president of an organization that is instrumental in elevating the education, practice, and profile of water resource engineers across the country,” says Dr. Traver.

In addition to offering his experience as president-elect, Dr. Traver will also benefit from the knowledge of fellow water resources experts from around the country and new advances in education for engineering professionals that he can then apply to his own teaching and research within the College.

According to the AAWRE, water resource engineers “develop and apply scientific and engineering principles to plan, design, construct, manage, operate, and maintain infrastructure programs.” Founded in 2004 by water resources engineers from the American Society of Civil Engineers’ Environmental and Water Resources Institute, the AAWRE provides education and advanced certification opportunities for water resources engineers.
