Villanova College of Engineering Wins 2015 Enterprise Video Award

Villanova University College of Engineering has been named a winner in the 11th annual Enterprise Video Awards by Sonic Foundry Inc. (NASDAQ: SOFO), a trusted global leader for video creation and management solutions. The awards honor excellence in Mediasite integration into business, education, health and government. The College has been awarded in the “Prolific Use” category, which distinguishes an organization that has dramatically scaled its video program to achieve broad uses across its enterprise.

Villanova’s College of Engineering E-Learning department has been utilizing the Mediasite system since 2004 and has experienced a substantial increase in the use of its online content over the past decade. In 2008, faculty and students in the College’s rapidly growing graduate engineering program requested real time lecture capture so content could be accessed in an online learning platform as well as in the traditional classroom environment. At that time, the E-Learning department recorded about 25 courses each year in three classrooms. Today, the department manages more than 100 courses a year in 10 classrooms, including one off-campus site.

E-Learning Director Jeff Schwarz says: “The use of Mediasite to record and archive our graduate engineering course content will allow us to continue to offer a quality educational experience to an increasing student base. It will also support the expansion of new graduate engineering programs. Before Mediasite, the College offered a static, in-class only graduate engineering program for local students; now we offer an integrated, fully synchronous learning environment for in-class and online student in 23 states and 6 countries.”
