Marissa earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Pennsylvania, graduating magna cum laude in 1996. Marissa received her Juris Doctor from Columbia University School of Law in 1999, where she spent a semester abroad in Paris taking law classes in French.
Marissa began her career as a litigation associate in the New York office of O’Melveny & Myers, LLP. Marissa was promoted to Counsel at O’Melveny in 2005. Marissa then became an Assistant United States Attorney in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York. While there, Marissa tried eight criminal cases, including four murder trials. She also successfully briefed and argued approximately 12 appeals before the Second Circuit. Marissa spent her last few years at the SDNY in the Securities and Commodities Fraud Unit where she investigated and prosecuted cases including insider trading, investment adviser fraud, market manipulation, and Ponzi schemes.
