Villanova University Announces Three New Members to its Board of Trustees

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Villanova University today announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees.  Carolyn N. Everson, Vice President, Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook; Doug Gaston, Esq., former Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Comcast Cable; and Richard J. Kreider, retired Director at Kohlberg, Kravis Roberts & Co., joined the 34-member Board effective January 1.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome these three alumni, who are leaders in their fields, to the Villanova University Board of Trustees,” said the Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, Villanova University President.  “I look forward to working with each of them as they provide expertise and guidance to the University, and the community as a whole.”

Carolyn N. Everson, ’93 CLAS, is Vice President, Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook, where she leads the company’s relationships with top marketers and agencies.  She oversees a team of regional leaders, and the teams focused on global partnerships, global agencies and Facebook’s Creative Shop.  Prior to joining Facebook in 2011, Ms. Everson served as Corporate Vice President of Microsoft’s Global Advertising Sales and Trade Marketing Teams.  She also spent seven years working at MTV Networks, and in her last role served as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of U.S. Ad Sales for MTV.  She currently serves on the Board of Directors of Hertz Global Holdings, Inc., as well as the Board of Directors of the Mobile Marketing Association and the Board of Directors of DonorsChoose.  Ms. Everson is an advisor to Luma Partners, is a member of the Advisory Board of the John A. Reisenbach Foundation and is Chair of the Board of Directors of Effie Worldwide.

Ms. Everson graduated from Villanova’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a B.A. in Communication.  She also holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.  Ms. Everson resides in Montclair, N.J., with her husband, Doug, and their two twin daughters, Taylor and Kennedy.

Doug Gaston, Esq., ’92 VLS, recently announced his retirement from Comcast Cable as Senior Vice President and General Counsel, a position he held since 2004.  In that role, he served as Comcast’s principal legal advisor and directed a team of attorneys and legal specialists who support the company’s operating departments on a day-to-day basis.  Prior to that, Mr. Gaston was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel at Comcast, where he was responsible for overseeing the Operations Section of the Cable Law Department.  Before joining Comcast, he held the position of corporate associate in the Business and Finance department at Morgan, Lewis and Bockius, LLP. Mr. Gaston began his legal career as a judicial clerk to the Hon. Jan E. Dubois, United States District Court. He also worked for Suburban Cable Television and Herron Cable before joining WPHL-TV in Philadelphia as a producer/director.

Mr. Gaston graduated from the Villanova University School of Law and also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television and Film from Temple University.  He is a member of the Board of Consultors for Villanova’s Law School, where he is also an adjunct faculty member. He resides in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Richard J. Kreider, ’83 VSB, retired as Director from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR) in April 2014 after 28 years with the firm.  During his tenure with KKR, Mr. Kreider was involved with the firm’s capital raising efforts, working on fundraising, performance reporting, valuations, investor relations, and compliance and regulatory reporting. Prior to joining KKR, Mr. Kreider was a CPA for Deloitte & Touche.  Mr. Krieder is a member of Villanova’s Campaign Executive Committee for the University’s current fundraising campaign, "For the Greater Great: The Villanova Campaign to Ignite Change," and serves as the Chair of the College of Nursing Campaign Committee.  He is President of the Long Island Chapter of the Villanova Alumni Association, and is a member and past President of the Villanova Financial Club.  Mr. Kreider is also a recipient of the St. Thomas of Villanova Alumni Medal.  He is a Board Member of the Nassau County Theodore Roosevelt Boy Scout of America Council and serves on its’ investment committee.

Mr. Kreider graduated from the Villanova School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, and he also holds an MBA in Finance from New York University.  He and his wife, Marianne, have five children and reside in Huntington, N.Y.
