Villanova Students Journey to Houston:
Villanova University received 700 student tickets for the Final Four, all of which were gone in less than three hours. The tickets were distributed via student lottery, with those students who attended the most games during the season given the greatest chance to receive tickets.
Wildcat Student-Athlete to Sing National Anthem at Final Four:
Villanova student-athlete Karlie Crispin, a junior on the women’s basketball team, is part of a quartet who will sing the National Anthem at the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four in Houston. The quartet includes student-athlete representatives from each of the four institutions in the 2016 Final Four. Joining Crispin are a women’s basketball student-athlete from Oklahoma, a men’s soccer student-athlete from North Carolina and a men’s track and field student-athlete from Syracuse. A Communication Major from Pitman, N.J., Crispin sang with the Villanova Voices before joining the Villanova women’s basketball team.
Game Watch Events...On campus and Across the Country:
Villanova will host a Game Watch event for Saturday’s Final Four semifinal game versus Oklahoma at the Connelly Center, located on the University’s main campus. The Game Watch will take place in both the Villanova Room and Belle Air Terrance in Connelly Center. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with tipoff of the Villanova-Oklahoma game scheduled for 6:07 p.m. There will also be game watches around the country organized through our Alumni Association. Wildcats Trending and Tops in Social Media Buzz:
Villanova was the most-buzzed-about team on social media for the first and second rounds of the NCAA Tournament, according to an article from Ad Week. This was according to data from the social media intelligence platform Synthesio. On Thursday, March 24 after Villanova’s win over Miami, junior forward Kris Jenkins – in addition to Villanova itself – were in top 10 twitter mentions nationwide. On Saturday, March 26 after Villanova’s victory over Kansas, the terms Villanova, Ryan Arcidiacano, Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson were all trending on Twitter. Those alumni tweeting about the Wildcats include Second Lady Jill Biden, former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell and NBA All-Star Kyle Lowry.
Lighting Up the Night in Blue and White:
Several Philadelphia landmarks will be lit in blue and white Saturday evening in honor of Villanova’s team's march to the Final Four. The Ben Franklin Bridge, One and Two Liberty Place, the Wells Fargo Center and the PECO Building will be awash in Villanova colors while the Cira Center will feature our blue "V." Philadelphia Airport will be running good luck Villanova ads on hundreds of LED screens in all seven terminals, and Comcast SportsNet has a digital boards throughout Philly that will show support for Villanova and will be updated with live scores.
Villanova Going Head to Head against NCAA Competition in “Menu Madness”:
Villanova University was selected by Food Management Magazine to participate again this year in their Menu Madness Competition. Villanova took the title last year against 15 other Universities.
