Catherine Keating ’84 to Receive 2017 St. Thomas of Villanova Alumni Medal

VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Villanova University Alumni Association (VUAA) has announced the selection of Catherine Keating ’84 College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as the recipient of its 2017 St. Thomas of Villanova Alumni Medal. The highest honor bestowed by the VUAA, the St. Thomas of Villanova Alumni Medal is presented annually to alumni for outstanding service and to those who best symbolize the spirit and legacy of St. Thomas of Villanova. Keating will receive the award at a June 9 on-campus ceremony during Villanova’s Reunion Weekend.

“Catherine has given back so much to Villanova and has made us proud as one of the top leaders in the investment and banking industry,” said George Kolb, Associate Vice President, Alumni Relations. “We’re so excited to welcome her back to campus for this wonderful occasion and award.”

Keating has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Commonfund since 2015. Prior to joining Commonfund, she held the position of Head of Investment Management Americas at J.P. Morgan and was Partner in the international law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. She has been featured in Businessweek, The Wall Street Journal, Barron′s, The Financial Times and Institutional Investor, and has appeared on CNBC, Fox and Bloomberg TV. Keating has been named one of the “Most Powerful Women in Finance” and one of the “Most Powerful Women in Banking” by American Banker.

Keating served for 11 years on the Board of Directors at Villanova University, including two years as Chair. In addition to her undergraduate degree from Villanova, Keating earned a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.

Since 1995, the St. Thomas of Villanova Alumni Medal has been given to those who have achieved a significant level of distinction within their career field and have made a major impact on their community, the University, and Alumni Association.
