Nursing honor society induction

induction

The achievements of seventy students in the College of Nursing were recently recognized with membership in Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI), nursing’s honor society.  Specifically, 56 undergraduate and 14 graduate students were inducted into the Alpha Nu Chapter of STTI on November 13, 2011. Three community leaders were also inducted at the ceremony held in the Villanova Room of Connelly Center where chapter president Elizabeth Blunt, PhD, RN, APN-BC presided.  Dr. Blunt is coordinator of the Nurse Practitioner Programs and assistant professor.

The Alpha Nu chapter was established at Villanova in 1966 to recognize superior achievement, leadership, high professional standards, creative work, and commitment to the high ideals of the nursing profession among nursing students. Membership is by invitation.

The annual event included a keynote address from Kimberly Connelly, MPH, BSN, RN, director of the College’s Center for Global and Public Health and clinical assistant professor. Building on her experience as a Peace Corps volunteer, she shared her experiences with the audience in her presentation “A Health Promotion Adventure: One Nurse’s Journey in Africa and Indonesia.”
