Villanova Nurses attend NSNA Summer Leadership Conference

'

Two representatives from the Villanova College of Nursing Chapter of the Student Nurses’ Association of Pennsylvania (SNAP) attended the National Student Nurses’ Association (NSNA) Summer Leadership Conference in New York City held at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center on July 26th. SNAP-Villanova faculty advisor Carol Weingarten, PhD, RN, ANEF spoke on the topic "School Chapter Advisors:  Inspiring and Mentoring Future Leaders."

The annual conference allows attendees to better understand NSNA’s mission and programs and share ideas to create stronger chapters.

“The NSNA Summer Leadership Conference was a wonderful experience in which I not only had the opportunity to meet other nursing students and faculty, but also learned some new ideas that can further strengthen our already award-winning SNAP chapter. It was also great to listen to Dr. Weingarten speak about her vital role as faculty advisor for Villanova's NSNA/SNAP chapter,” said junior Liz Long, legislative coordinator for both the chapter and state.

Her sister, Meghan Long, a sophomore and one of SNAP-Villanova's Athletic Liaisons, also enjoyed Dr. Weingarten’s talk and meeting other nursing students from across the country. “The presentations were very informative and I learned a lot about managing nursing associations and other associations I can get involved with in the future,”  she notes.
