Alumna creates app for students and nurses

'

Not sure what’s in a CBC? Can’t remember the steps for CPR? Well, now there’s an app for that. Recent College of Nursing alumna Terri-Ann Kelly, ’13 MSN, RN has developed a quick reference application for nurses and nursing students. Available through the Apple store, RN Cheat Sheet features information on lab values, procedures, calculations and other related nursing material.

Kelly graduated from the Nursing Education program in May 2013. Currently working as a clinical instructor for Temple University and part-time as an RN at Belmont Behavioral Health, she created this application in response to feedback from various nursing students at Villanova and Temple and the need for a free, simple but comprehensive reference guide.  Though Kelly does not have a background in Internet Technology, she and a friend (who currently has published 12 applications to date) had worked on developing various gaming applications in the past. Having this experience, she spearheaded the creation of this application, finding different freelance artists and computer programmers to help with the development process before submitting it to Apple for review and approval.

Now finished with her master’s in nursing education, Kelly has quickly found her way back in academics as a PhD student at the University of Pennsylvania with a research focus in obesity in African American Women & Health Promotion. Kelly plans to continue her devotion to education as a nursing faculty member upon graduation.
