DNP student earns scholarship

Jean Ridgeway

As a nurse practitioner, Jean Ridgeway, MSN, CRNP, AOCN is the lead advance practice provider for the malignant hematology/stem cell transplant program in the outpatient setting at the University of Chicago. She is also a member of the second cohort in the College of Nursing’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program.

Ridgeway applied for and was awarded a $1000 scholarship from her local oncology nursing chapter that she will use for tuition. “I see education as a true investment and am honored that my local professional society has chosen me to be the recipient of the educational scholarship,” she says. She will be writing articles for her chapter newsletter to keep the membership updated on her progress. “My first article is going to look at the design of DNP distance learning using Villanova as my model,” notes Ridgeway.

She looks forward to developing her DNP project titled “Will interdisciplinary health care professionals in an allogeneic stem cell transplant program utilize an advance practice nurse developed transitions of care educational checklist across inpatient and outpatient clinical practice settings?"
