Anesthesia students attend PANA

'
Anesthesia students showed their advanced knowledge of all things anesthesia during PANA's "College Bowl" competition.

While it is the purpose of the nurse anesthesia program to provide the local community and beyond with competent nurse anesthetists, the faculty also encourage students and graduates to participate in leadership activities that support and enhance the profession of nurse anesthesia.

The College of Nursing was well-represented at the Pennsylvania Association of Nurse Anesthestists (PANA) Spring Symposium in Hershey from April 30-May 3, 2015. Students enhanced their knowledge and networked with colleagues.  In addition, several shared expertise through presentations.

Podium presentations:

  • Donna Eyler, SRNA, MSN, RN, CEd presented "Albumin: Bradykinin Cascade v. Anaphylaxis"
  • Alexis Armstrong, SRNA, BSN and Kristin Parisi, SRNA, BSN, CCRN presented "Anesthetic Management: Severe Fluid nad Electrolyte Imbalance"

Poster Presentations:

  • Katie Miller, SRNA and Jennifer Thurm, SRNA- "Anesthesia Concerns related to Thyroidectomy"

Kudos to the following anesthesia students who represented us so well in PANA"s College Bowl event: Dave McDonald, Spencer Rybinski, Jenna Smith, Katie Miller and Kelly Horigan.
