Dear Members of the Class of 2014:
Commencement serves as both the final step on your educational journey and the first step on the next journey you have prepared for during your time at Villanova. Over the years, the number of Commencement-related events has grown to span three full days. It is an important milestone that should be shared with friends and loved ones, but this schedule has made it difficult—and expensive—for many families from across the country and around the world to participate in each activity. Feedback we have received in recent years reflects a desire among many graduates and parents for a more compact Commencement schedule that would retain the key elements that make this weekend so special.
After considerable thought and discussion, the following changes have been made to the Commencement schedule for 2014 which we hope will allow for an inclusive and enjoyable celebration for everyone:
While the new schedule is set, on-campus locations for some of these events are still being determined. Please check www.villanova/commencement for updates. Once location details are finalized, a brochure with comprehensive information regarding Commencement will be mailed later this summer to the permanent home address of all potential graduates.
I hope you will share this information with your families and that it will help as you begin to plan for this important celebration. Any questions you may have regarding these schedule changes or Commencement in general may be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org or (610) 519-8882.
Best wishes for an enjoyable summer. I look forward to a seeing you when you return to campus in August.
Fr. Peter Donohue, O.S.A.
