University Events

Throughout the year, we're involved with many events and initiatives that characterize our University's mission. We will continually keep you updated on any new projects.

Events

The Office of the President coordinates large, University-wide events such as the St. Thomas of Villanova Celebration, the Mendel Medal and University Commencement. Students, faculty and staff from throughout the University work together throughout the year to ensure that these events are inclusive and representative of Villanova’s Augustinian ideals.

The annual St. Thomas of Villanova Celebration takes place over four days in September and serves as a celebration of the University’s Catholic, Augustinian mission and heritage. Events include an Academic Symposium, a Day of Service, a Community Dinner and Liturgy, and the presentation of staff Distinguished Service Awards.

The Mendel Medal was established and awarded to outstanding scientists who have done much by their painstaking work to advance the cause of science, and, by their lives and their standing before the world as scientists, have demonstrated that between true science and true religion there is no intrinsic conflict.

Commencement serves as the culmination of an academic journey for Villanova students. Activities include a Reception with the President, College Recognition Ceremonies, the Baccalaureate Liturgy and conclude with the Commencement ceremony. Events throughout Commencement Weekend are designed so that family and friends can join the graduates in celebrating this important milestone.
