  • New CRS Certification Introduced

    The College of Professional Studies introduced the Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) program in Fall 2015. The program, which is approved by the Pennsylvania Certification Board, is built for students interested in enhancing their counseling career by providing recovery support services to those individuals dealing with dependencies. The CRS works peer-to-peer to identify needs and connect participants with the required available resources. In doing so, this community-based service intends to reduce the risk of relapse.

    Deborah J. Tyksinski, PhD, dean of the College of Professional Studies (CPS) at Villanova University, was awarded with the Emeritus Honor by the Continuing Education Association of New York (CEANY).

    The College of Professional Studies is thrilled to congratulate Brian Donegan, a part-time studies student pursuing his B.S. in Business Administration with a focus in Finance. Brian received this award after demonstrating academic potential and financial need.

  • CPS Adjunct Faculty Member and “HR Person of the Year” Talks About the Industry and Gives Sage Advice to Professionals

    July 23, 2015 -Douglas Allen, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, an adjunct faculty member for the HR certificate programs for over 23 years, received a prestigious award at the 2015 SHRM Awards. Allen, the Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Cooper Health System, was named “HR Person of the Year,” a significant and widely respected accomplishment within the human resources community.

  • CPS Students Teach Introductory Computer Science to Middle School Tech Club

    June 5, 2015 - As part of an independent study course, several students from the College of Professional Studies traveled to a technology club at Julia De Burgas Middle School in North Philadelphia to mentor and teach over twenty students introductory computer science skills.

  • Successful Launch of Online Degree

    This spring, The College of Professional Studies (CPS) welcomed our first class of online part-time undergraduate students. The inaugural class of the online undergraduate degree is an important and exciting step forward for CPS, and an opportunity for adults around the country—with commitments such as careers and families—to complete their degree through Villanova University.

    April 27, 2015 - Gailynne Ferguson earned her Paralegal certificate from Villanova University in 2006, and the certification has influenced her career in a multitude of ways since that time.
