Villanova Semester Programs

Villanova currently administers a wide array of year-long and semester programs in locations worldwide.  Some programs are interdisciplinary, open to all students and offer direct enrollment opportunities at overseas universities and/or language immersion. Other opportunities are more thematic and offer structured course options designed for specific majors or specialty cohorts. 

  • Business and Culture in the Italian Context

    Business and Culture in the Italian Context

    Open to VSB Sophomore and Business minors - spend a semester in Urbino studying marketing, management along with Italian history, language and culture

  • Communications, Society and Marketing in the Italian Context (CoSMIC)

    Communications, Society and Marketing in the Italian Context (CoSMIC)

    This fall semester program takes place in Urbino, Italy, and offers two primary tracks: one geared towards Marketing and Communication majors and another designed for students interested in Global Interdisciplinary Studies

  • French Language and Culture in Lille

    French Language and Culture in Lille

    This semester program takes place at the Université Catholique de Lille. All majors who have completed through FRE1131 are encouraged to apply!

  • French Language and Politics at ESPOL

    French Language and Politics at ESPOL

    This semester program takes place at the Université Catholique de Lille. Political Science Majors will be able to complete a certificate in International Politics

  • Global Citizens Program

    Global Citizens Program

    Open to incoming Villanova School of Business students. This sixteen week overseas study experience combines academic coursework with a practical internship located in either London or Singapore

    This world renowned university, founded in 1413, is one of the top universities in the UK. Steeped in tradition, with a global outlook offering students diverse academic offerings in a historic and welcoming setting

  • Honors Global Scholars Philosophy, Politics and Economics in Cambridge

    Honors Global Scholars Philosophy, Politics and Economics in Cambridge

    The Villanova Honors Politics, Philosophy and Economics Program in affiliation with the Institute of Economic and Political Studies (INSTEP), offers an outstanding intellectual and social experience in a small, prestigious university town with a rich academic and historical tradition.

  • Irish Studies in Galway

    Irish Studies in Galway

    This semester program takes place at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and introduces students to the the many facets of life in modern Ireland.

  • Nursing Year in Manchester

    Nursing Year in Manchester

    The College of Nursing has established a year-long study abroad program with the University of Manchester in England. Students in this program spend their Sophomore year in the Nursing Department of the University of Manchester. The courses transfer to Villanova as the Sophomore year of the nursing curriculum and no time is lost in the four year course of studies.

  • Spanish Language and Culture in Cádiz

    This semester program takes place at the Universidad de Cádiz. All majors who have completed through SPA 1122 are encouraged to apply!

  • Urbino Semester

    Study modern Italian society and culture through contemporary coursework in one of two exciting academic tracks; BCIC (Business and Culture in the Italian Context) or CoSMIC (Communication, Society and Marketing in the Italian Context)

  • WFI Internship: Vatican/UN in Communication

    WFI Internship: Vatican/UN in Communication

    The WFI Internship at the Vatican has allowed students interested in public relations, journalism, and media production to assist Vatican-related offices with social media outreach and other tasks, seeing firsthand how people from vastly different backgrounds and cultures are united by words that capture shared beliefs.

    WFI Internship: Vatican/UN in Computing Science

    Villanova's Computing Sciences department has a special agreement with the Vatican and UN in Rome to provide student interns who will enhance the Vatican's presence on the World Wide Web.

Villanova Summer Programs

The Villanova Sumer Programs are offered throughout Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa. Programs run from 6-10 weeks over the summer months. Villanova Summer Programs are directed by Villanova University Faculty Program Coordinators (FPC) from all academic disciplines and departments. Instruction is offered by Villanova Faculty Program Coordinators as well as faculty members associated with the host institution.

  • Augustine and Architecture in San Gimignano and Urbino, Italy

    Augustine and Architecture in San Gimignano and Urbino, Italy

    Students, using Italy as the backdrop for design and devotion, will fully explore Tuscany within the context of architecturally significant structures and the life of St. Augustine.

  • Business Internship and Economics Program

    Business Internship and Economics Program

    Students will study and intern in Singapore.

  • Economics and Culture of Italy

    Economics and Culture of Italy

    Students will participate in their choice of academic courses overseas and to gain an international perspective on global business activities. Students from all four Villanova University colleges are encouraged to apply.

  • French Language and Culture in Lille, France

    French Language and Culture in Lille, France

    Students will have the unique opportunity to increase their knowledge and understanding of French language and culture, and also pursue Sustainability Studies in the French context.

  • Internship and London School of Economics in London, England

    Internship and London School of Economics in London, England

    Open to all majors! Students participate in a VU-taught, three-credit business course and a 6-week three-credit professional internship. Upon completion, students enroll in a 3-credit course at London School of Economics and Political Science (9-credits total).

  • Irish Studies in Galway, Ireland

    Irish Studies in Galway, Ireland

    Students will be introduced to Ireland's history, literature, society and archaeology through a 10-day Orientation in Dublin, Galway, and on the Aran Islands, and five weeks of courses at the National University of Ireland, Galway Summer School in Irish Studies.

  • Irish Theatre Summer Studio in Dublin, Ireland

    Irish Theatre Summer Studio in Dublin, Ireland

    From the studio to the stage, students will study the workings and history of Ireland's world-class national theatre while developing their own theatre skills, knowledge, and practice. Students from Villanova will work alongside students from Irish and other universities and be taught by practitioners and professors from the U.S. and Ireland. Student work will culminate in a showing of final work on the Abbey Theatre’s Peacock stage.

  • Learning Communities Abroad Internship Program

    The Learning Communities Abroad Program (LCA) provides students the unique opportunity to complement their classroom learning through an 8-week, 6-credit program. Work placements will be based on students’ academic and personal interests.

  • Literature and Politics in Prague, Czech Republic

    Literature and Politics in Prague, Czech Republic

    Students will study politics, culture and society, and the relationship between political oppression and rebellion (on one hand) and literature and art (on the other).

  • Rhetoric and Performance in Greece

    Rhetoric and Performance in Greece

    Students will gain important insights into the roots of the discipline and make contemporary applications through hands-on experience in Greece.

  • Spanish Language and Indigenous Sustainability in Merida, Mexico

    Spanish Language and Indigenous Sustainability in Merida, Mexico

    Students will increase their proficiency in Spanish and be introduced to Indigenous Sustainability.

  • Spanish Language and Literature in Cadiz, Spain

    Spanish Language and Literature in Cadiz, Spain

    Students will increase their proficiency in Spanish and to be introduced to Spanish literature, culture and civilization.

  • Summer at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea

    Summer at Korea University in Seoul, South Korea

    Here is an opportunity to experience Korea, the Land of Morning Calm, and take courses at Korea University in Seoul to earn 6-credits in 6-weeks.

Villanova offers short term overseas study opportunities that are an intensive course offering taught within an a 2-3 week travel period. All courses are led by Villanova faculty members. Some programs may include on-campus study prior to departure.
