Amber Shelton, a senior biology major, received a VURF travel grant to present her research at the Annual Meeting for the American Association for Cancer Research in 2017.
On her experience:
"Being able to present at the Annual Meeting for the American Association for Cancer Research was an amazing opportunity in that I was able to be exposed to a field that I have always been interested in, cancer. While in Dr. Knepper's lab we focus on breast cancer, at the AACR meeting there was a variety of cancer types that were being researched as well as various methods in completing that research. I was able to learn about novel methods of cancer treatment, up and coming research on new factors involving cancer, and was able to here talks by the "big wigs" of the oncology field. Overall the experience was once that I was glad to take advantage of both because of my experience in presenting on my research and my being exposed to new things that could impact my research in the future."
