Dear Honors Alumni,
Say goodbye to memos, posters, and flyers and say hello to Instagram! Social media has become one of the main modes by which colleges communicate to their students, community members, and the outside world, and the Villanova University Honors Program took this necessary plunge into the social media scape this past Fall 2016 semester.
My name is Ashley Bouwense and I work in the Honors Program as a graduate assistant. As I wrap-up my first year in the Program, I would like to take a moment with you to reflect on one of the Program’s biggest additions this past school year: our newly instituted Instagram page, @vuhonors.
Through snapshots of students, events, and other aspects of Honors culture, the page is not only a means to market the Program, but it is also a collage of Honors spirit, encapsulating the forward-thinking and active aura of Honors. The Program utilizes Instagram to illustrate all of the great things the Honors community does on the dynamic online communicative scape.
Students rallied immediately around this new social media initiative since its beginning in the late Fall 2016 semester, and our following has consistently grown over the past six months of activity. We have 124 followers and counting! Here are a few of our exciting posts:
