Taking Your Course Online: Online Seminar for Faculty New / Recent to Teaching Online

Six-week asynchronously online seminar with weekly synchronous session offered by VITAL via Blackboard. Synchronous sessions will be hosted via Zoom on the following Wednesdays: 9/27, 10/4, 10/18, and 10/25, and 11/1 from 5:00-6:15p.m. The final in-person seminar will occur Wednesday, 11/8, Falvey Library, ICE.

Are you relatively new to teaching online, planning to offer or revise an online course, or planning to adapt your on campus course to an online offering and want to ensure high quality online learning experiences for your students? This seminar has been designed to prepare you to teach online with a focus on students’ active learning experiences. You will learn how to align your student learning goals with online activities, assessment practices, and the corresponding technological tools. You will apply the online course design process by developing one aspect of your online course considering the learners’ experiences.

The seminar has been designed to provide a model for online course development and presentation. Upon successful completion of the seminar, faculty will receive a Certificate of Completion. Note: The seminar will focus on non-vendor supported courses only.
