Annual Earth Day Farmer's Market

Each Earth Day, Villanova Dining Services showcases our commitment to sustainability by providing our community members with a fun Farmer's Market Event. We invite our local bakeries and produce vendors to help us celebrate. Many of our sustainable vendors accompany us to speak about their initiatives. Many times, our suppliers are “behind the scenes” and are involved in food production and operations. 

The Earth Day Farmer's Market is an excellent way for the Villanova Community to learn about the extensive ways that Villanova Dining Services contributes to our planet’s sustainability. We also feature our winners from our Veggie Mania contest so that our community members can sample their creative, vegan dishes. Villanova Dining Services combined the offering of our Veggie Mania winning dishes with the Farmers’ Market and Earth Day because many people do not link sustainability with food, and more specifically, plant based foods.  It is true that the raising of livestock and consumption of animal proteins is one of the largest contributors to global warming. We believe that through education and a myriad of food options, together we can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions by consuming more plant based foods and less animal proteins.  Villanova Dining Services strongly believes that promoting plant based foods is good for you and good for our environment.

Farm to Fork Dinner  

Dining Services' Farm to Fork Dinner will be held on Thursday, April 20 at Donahue, Dougherty, and St. Mary's. If you spend $15 at the Farmers' Market, you will get a coupon for FREE admission to the Farm to Fork dinner (valued at $14.25).
