The Office of First and Second Year Initiatives provides opportunities and promotes available resources to first and second year students that support our Augustinian values of finding purpose and developing passion. Through shared experiences and individual growth, students will be successful in the classroom, in the halls, and through co-curricular experiences, feel a strong connection to the Villanova community.
Through Orientation, students are given a strong foundation to explore the various opportunities both in and outside of the classroom. We encourage students to continue to navigate the first two years of college with an open mind and an open heart to all that Villanova has to offer, laying the groundwork for graduating successful, happy and fulfilled.
- Strengthen connection to the Villanova community
- Enhance class identity/unity
- Encourage personal growth and development of purpose
- Increase knowledge and utilization of available resources
- To positively impact retention

She enjoys working with the Orientation Staff Members and looks forward to the energy and excitement that program brings to campus each August! She attended Loyola University of Maryland, and was very involved in campus life, which sparked her career path in higher education. Alicia received her Masters degree in Higher Education from Boston College in 2001 and has been happily working in Student Affairs ever since. She lives with her husband in Abington, PA with their 2 kids, Molly and Brendan, and their golden retriever, Fenway!
Lael is the Assistant Director of First and Second Year Initiatives and started her professional journey at Villanova in 2014. As a 2013 Villanova Graduate, her passion for all things Villanova started with her own experiences in and outside the classroom at Villanova. She was involved with New Student Orientation, Student Government Association, and many other aspects of campus as a student. Lael is excited to return to the classroom at night to pursue her Master’s degree in Business Admiration. In between working with students and night class, Lael is planning her own Villanova wedding for December 2016 and couldn’t be more excited!
