Transportation
Students, faculty, and staff have a number of alternative transportation options available to them both on- and off-campus.
Public Transit
SEPTA
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), manages all of the trains, buses and subways in the greater Philadelphia area. Two trains stop on Villanova’s campus, one regional rail line stops on the west side of campus by Mendel Hall, the other, the high speed line, stops on the south side of campus by the south campus dorms. Both of these trains make stops in the surrounding towns, as well as providing access to Philadelphia. For more information regarding public transportation options visit the Parking website.
SEPTA KEY
Septa is in the process of rolling out a new fare system, featuring a reloadable card and a tap-and-ride system. The SEPTA Key card can be reloaded at Fare Kiosks, available at all Market Frankford and Broad Street Line stations, as well as on select Bus Loops. On Regional Rail, Fare kiosks are available at the five Center City Stations (Temple, Jefferson, Suburban, 30th St., and University City). As SEPTA is currently still building on to this Key card system, in many locations cash and tokens are still accepted. SEPTA Discount options
Senior Citizens (65 or older)
Senior Citizens are eligible to use all forms of SEPTA transportation within PA for free with appropriate ID. Regional rail to Delaware and New Jersey is available at a 50% discount. For more information regarding SEPTA’s senior citizen discount, visit the SEPTA Senior Citizen’s webpage.
University Programs
Employee Benefits
Villanova employees who use public transportation to get to work can take advantage of WageWorks, a program to use pre-tax dollars towards public transportation costs. Charging Stations
Campus Shuttle
Villanova provides a campus shuttle for students, faculty and staff. One shuttle loops around campus during the week days, and the other goes off campus to student housing and shopping plazas on both the weekdays and weekends. Nova Van On-Demand
The Villanova Van On-Demand is a student-driven shuttle service that runs between the hours of 9pm and 1 am M-F, and 7pm to 1am on Saturdays. The shuttle will take students from a designated pickup point to a prearranged drop-off point on campus. Using the TransLoc app, students can request to be picked up from one part of campus and dropped at another when they need a ride. Biking
Bike racks are available throughout campus. Students are encouraged to bring their bikes to campus and use them as a means of transportation.
If you don’t have a bike, you can borrow one from the Nova Bike Share fleet. Registration is free, but our bikes are limited, so don't wait to sign up! For more information on the Nova Bike Share, or to register, visit the Nova Bike Share page.
There is a bike trail in Radnor township that takes you from Conestoga Rd near the 476 overpass, out to where Conestoga Road meets Lancaster Avenue.
