Manditory Securitty Awareness Training: It seems like every other week there is a new security breach at major corporations like Sony, Target and Home Depot. As we have seen, colleges and universities are also not immune to this troubling trend. Avoiding a disruption to campus operations and safeguarding personal information, confidential university data and intellectual property are paramount to protecting Villanova.
With that in mind, UNIT has created an IT User Awareness program in Blackboard to take a proactive approach to securing the University’s information. Because it is critical that each member in our community understand his or her role in preventing a data breach on campus, this training is mandatory and needs to be completed by Friday, May 1. The safety and security of our students, faculty, staff and alumni are of the utmost importance.
UNIT has released a new and improved way to create online forms. Forms will now be created in the AEM environment. Forms paired with Permission Based Content has the capability to limit forms to certain audiences by requiring them to login to view the form. Training will be provided to any AEM Author user in the Summer months. All existing forms will be converted over to the new system by Fall 2015.
Are you interested in facilitating a verbal discussion in an online environment? VoiceThread is an interactive collaboration and sharing tool that enables users to add images, documents and videos, and to which other users can add voice, text, audio file, or video comments. This tool is fully integrated with the Blackboard course environment and found under Tools.

UNIT encourages “clean desk” best-practices to ensure that all sensitive/confidential materials are removed from personal and public workspaces, and locked away when the items are not in use or an employee leaves his/her workstation.
Sensitive/critical information about employees, intellectual property, customers, and vendors should be secure in locked areas and out of site; but, it is also part of standard basic privacy controls.
