UNIT encourages faculty and staff to backup all important files on your new University-issued desktop/laptop computer (as well as home computers.) Your files and data are critically important to your job at Villanova, so it is up to you to understand what backups are, how they work and how to create the best backup strategy that meets your needs. Unfortunately, too many people fail to realize how important backups can be – until it’s too late.
UNIT recommends working with your department/College IT coordinator to plan a backup strategy for your workstation; for example, saving important files on a file server and/or backing them up “locally” to an external storage device - and then keeping these devices in a secure place. We encourage you to read and learn more about this month’s IT Security Awareness topic here: http://www.securingthehuman.org/newsletters/ouch/issues/OUCH-201508_en.pdf
