MyNova Upgrade

UNIT is proud to announce the upgrade to myNova. In the new myNOVA, you can use the search bar located at the top to find anything you need. Just search and click – it’s that easy.  Students can check their grades, access classes and find out when the next shuttle is coming – and much more. Faculty and staff can review their vacation balance, access internal forms, pay stubs, holiday schedule and campus directory – it’s all right there and easy to search.

The new myNOVA is a virtual one-stop shop, and is accessible anytime, anywhere.

New Conference Bridge--Dial In Conferencing

UNIT is now introducing the use of Skype for Business Conference Bridge to replace the use of Avaya conference lines. Once the request for a Skype conference line is completed, you will receive an email from Skype for Business with your conference phone number and pin. This will be used to start a meeting and allow the participants to join. Contact UNIT's TechZone at ex.97777 or support@villanova.edu for access.

Weather Station in College of Engineering

Working with the Villanova Urban Stormwater Partnership's (VUSP), UNIT has built a Weather Kiosk station on the 3rd floor of CEER to view weather data from several weather data devices in the region, on campus, and the Green Roof in CEER.  These devices will give statistical analysis on various types of weather data and produce an interactive dashboard for analysis.

Using Loggernet Software we are retrieving data from Campbell Scientific weather dataloggers via the network using Real Time Monitor and Control (RTMC) software.  The idea is to present customized graphs, tables, dials, and digital values to represent weather aspects from all the weather devices.

IT Security: ‘Tis the Season to Be Cautious

Be aware of the dangers of shopping online and ways you can protect yourself.  Many of us will choose to shop online  and unfortunately this is also a criminal’s favorite time of the year to commit online or financial fraud, so stay aware!

Fake Online Stores

  • Criminals often create fake websites by copying the look of or using the name of well-known stores. .
  • Verify the website has a legitimate mailing address and a phone number for sales or support-related questions. If the site looks suspicious, call and speak to a human.
  • Look for obvious warning signs like poor grammar and spelling.
  • Be very suspicious if a website appears to be an exact replica of a well-known website you have used in the past, but the website name of the store is slightly different. For example, you may be used to going the website https://www.amazon.com for all of your Amazon shopping.  But be very suspicious if you were to find yourself at a website pretending to be Amazon with the URL http://www.store-amazon.com.

Your Credit Card

  • Keep an eye on your credit card statements to identify suspicious charges.
  • You should review your statements regularly.
  • Another option is to have one credit card just for online purchases.
