How can I encourage my child to visit the Career
Services Center?
Ask your student if they have visited the Career Services Office. If he/she
feels that it is only for seniors, reassure them that meeting with a counselor
can take place at any time and as often as needed for meeting their career
goals. Encourage them to become familiar with the resources, staff and programs
provided. Some of the programs include: mock interview; mentoring program,
library – in office
and online; workshops for resumes and interviews; campus recruiting
program for full time and internship positions; individual career counseling
and self-assessment inventory. Students should make their visits a process,
not a one time event.

When should my child compose a resume?
As soon as possible. Writing a resume can help your child identify weak
areas that require improvement. Career Services has guidelines and sample
resume in the office and online. There are walk-n hours Monday through Friday from 1 – 3 pm to have a quick look at resumes and for quick questions.
