| Applying to Professional Schools |
The procedure for applying to professional schools (law
and medicine), are relatively similar to those for applying to graduate
school. Provided below is additional information specific to law and medical
schools.
|
|
|
Law School:
Law schools are quite clear and public about the GPAs and LSATs of those
students they commonly accept. The application process is relatively easy
and you should be able to execute it with good judgment, timeliness and
careful attention to detail.
The LSAT (Law School Admission Test) is required
by all law schools:
-
LSAT
and law school information is available in CSO.
- Students need to register with LSDAS at
http://www.lsac.org.
Meet with Dave Leibig, Pre-Law Advisor in
Careers Services to:
- Utilize the law literature in the CSO library.
- Join the student run Pre-Law Society.
- Sit in on a class at Villanova's Law School.
- Check out related links on CSO's website.

Medical School:
ALUMNI ADVICE:
Get the inside scoop from people who made it through the graduate school
application process.
- Medical schools are looking for applicants with strong academic
achievement, excellent interpersonal skills, and a desire to gain knowledge
in the medical field. They try to determine who are the best candidates
(from among thousands of excellent ones) by looking at grades; MCATs;
extracurricular, employment and leadership activities; community service;
life experiences; and direct exposure to medicine and clinical practice.
- Students interested in medical school should speak with Dr. John
Friede, Biology Professor/Pre-Med Advisor, Mendel, Room 143A
Most programs in medicine require the
MCATs (Medical College Admission Test):
- Begin the process as early as possible!
- Register for the national application or data assembly service most
programs use, if needed for medical, dental, osteopathy, or podiatry
school.
- Arrange for a Practice Interview with a career counselor.
