About the Program

The Essentials of Human Resource Management course is a true introduction to human resource management. The primary focus of the program is to provide participants with a broad overview of the human resource function. It consists of six modules offered over two (2) full days or five (5) evenings. The course includes readings, lectures, class discussions, and application activities.

Upon successful completion, candidates will earn 1.5 Continuing Education Units and a certificate of completion from Villanova University.

Instructors

Neil Horgan, MS, Retired Vice President & Consultant, Manchester Partners
Neil is an instructor and corporate on-site trainer for Villanova University's Office of Continuing Studies. Neil has over twenty years experience as a human resource executive with Sunoco and Manchester Partners.

Brian Costello, SPHR, MS, Director of Human Resource Operations, Thomas Jefferson University
Brian has functioned as a senior level executive with significant human resource experience, including overseas assignments. He possesses a high level of energy, creativity, integrity, and enthusiasm. Brian has a B.S. Economics from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a MS in Human Resource Management from Widener University.

Jim Kane, SPHR, MS, Associate Director of Human Resources at Villanova University
Jim has over 18 years experience as a human resource leader with Villanova University, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Aqua America. Jim has served on numerous occasions as a guest lecturer and has also served as an instructor in the SHRM Learning System.

James McHale, MBA President, Strategic Source, Inc.
James leads professionals in organization and human performance improvement. His personal expertise include managerial assessment, strategic planning, management development and project management. He has managed the consulting practice since 1989. Jim received a BS in Management from Penn State University and an MBA in Operations Management and Behaviorial Science from the University of Maryland.

Course Fee

The course fee is $575.00 for Session 1 (incl. all student materials, continental breakfast and lunch).  For Sessions 2 and 3, the fee if $475.00 (incl. all student materials).

Billing:
Students and authorized users are able to view billing statements and make secured payments electronically. You can also print official invoices for self and employer use. Once you receive your confirmation and VU ID #, you may log onto www.bursar.villanova.edu to view/pay your bill electronically. Bills are updated the 1st and 15th of every month.

Payment:
Payments are due no later than the first day of class. This requirement applies to all students, including those who register too late to receive a bill. Please TERMS of BILLING on registration page.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be in writing and received by the Office of Continuing Studies before the first class. No refunds are granted once the class begins.
