About the Program

The SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management course is a true introduction to human resource management. The primary focus of this introductory program is to provide participants with a broad overview of the human resource function. It consists of six modules offered over two (2) full days or five (5) evenings. The course includes readings, lectures, class discussions, and application activities. SHRM Essentials of Human Resource Management course participants will receive 1.5 Continuing Education Units, 15 HR recertification credit hours and a certificate of completion from Villanova University.

Jim Kane, MS, SPHR, Director, Office of Continuing Studies at Villanova University
Jim has over 23 years experience as a human resource leader with Villanova University, The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and Aqua America. Jim is a lead instructor in the SHRM Learning System at Villanova and has a MS in Human Resource Development from Villanova University.

James McHale, MBA, SPHR, President, Strategic Source, Inc.
James leads professionals in organization and human performance improvement. His personal expertise includes managerial assessment, strategic planning, management development and project management. He has managed the consulting practice since 1989. Jim received a BS in Management from Penn State University and an MBA in Operations Management and Behavioral Science from the University of Maryland.

Donna Torelli, MBA, SPHR, GPHR, Vice President and Executive Director, Human Resources, Greene, Tweed & Company
Donna has over 20 years of demonstrated expertise in the human resources field with extensive involvement in organization development, labor/employee relations, compensation and benefits, change management and process improvement.  In her current position, she reports directly to the President and is a member of the Senior Leadership Team, with responsibility for a global HR organization that provides leadership and guidance on business and HR issues to ensure that the company achieves its growth and strategic business objectives.

Course Fee

The course fee is $575.00 for Session 1 (incl. all student materials, continental breakfast and lunch).  For Sessions 2 and 3, the fee is $475.00 (incl. all student materials).

Billing:
Students and authorized users are able to view billing statements and make secured payments electronically. You can also print official invoices for self and employer use. Once you receive your confirmation and VU ID #, you may log onto V-bill to view/pay your bill electronically. Bills are updated the 1st, 10th and 20th of every month.

Payment:
Payments are due no later than the first day of class. This requirement applies to all students, including those who register too late to receive a bill. Please TERMS of BILLING on registration page.

Cancellation Policy:
Cancellations must be in writing and received by the Office of Continuing Studies before the first class. No refunds are granted once the class begins.
