About the Program
In cooperation with the American Payroll Association, Villanova University presents
the PayTrain College & University program for payroll professionals. Comprised of two
professional development courses: PayTrain Fundamentals and PayTrain Mastery. This program is designed
for all levels of payroll administration. Enrollees in the course receive classroom instruction, textbooks and
access to interactive online games and applications to reinforce topics learned.

Course Descriptions
PayTrain Fundamentals
January 27 - March 31, 2010 PayTrain Fundamentals teaches the fundamental payroll calculations and applications necessary for individuals who are new to the payroll industry, those who support the payroll industry, and those who are preparing for the FPC or CPP certification examinations. This course will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills required to maintain payroll compliance and prevent costly penalties. These calculations are critical to successfully passing the FPC and CPP exams and are not covered in PayTrain Mastery.
PayTrain Mastery January 25 - April 12, 2010 A continuation of PayTrain Fundamentals, PayTrain Mastery is a comprehensive course providing students with a solid understanding of advanced payroll topics necessary for payroll managers and supervisors. This course is ideal for experienced payroll professionals seeking compliance training, professional development, or CPP certification preparation. For success on the CPP exam, this course should be taken after completing PayTrain

Instructor
Kirk Simmett, CPP
Enjoying over 25 years as a payroll practitioner, Kirk Simmet is the Payroll Manager for Villanova University. He has been a national member of the American Payroll Association since 1990 and a local chapter member for over 15 years. He has held the distinction of Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) since first taking the exam in 1995 and has been recertified twice, once by exam and most recently through utilizing Continuing Education Units. Over the years he has served the local chapter by facilitating CPP Study Groups. Kirk began his career with Villanova right in the middle of a full conversion to an outsourced payroll provider. And, again in 1996 he was a critical player during the conversion to their current in-house payroll system. Kirk earned a BS in Finance from Drexel University and resides in the Media area with his wife and two daughters.
Margaret Angelucci, CPP
Meg is the Payroll and Benefit Plans Accounting Manager for AstraZeneca LP in Wilmington, Delaware, which includes responsibility for and oversight of payroll, benefits, and compensation general ledger accounting and reporting as well as for payroll tax filing. She has nineteen years of diverse and progressive experience within the payroll field, but due to ever-changing corporate and regulatory environments has never stopped learning and growing. She's a national member of the American Payroll Association and a local member of its Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter, and was a founding member and former officer of the (presently inactive) First State Chapter. Meg holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Bloomsburg University and an MBA in Finance from Saint Joseph's University. She has been a Certified Payroll Professional since 1993, and is currently working on completing the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist designation.

To ensure maximum results for each student, class size is limited. For

Students and authorized users are able to view billing statements and
make secured payments electronically. You can also print official
invoices for self and employer use. Once you receive your confirmation
and VU ID #, you may log onto
V-Bill to view/pay your bill electronically. Bills
are updated the 1st, 10th and 20th of every month. Payment
Payments are due no later than the first day of class. This requirement
applies to all students, including those who register too late to
receive a bill. Please see TERMS of BILLING on registration page.
Cancellation
Cancellations must be in writing and received by the Office of
Continuing Studies before the first class. No refunds are granted once
the class begins.
