Villanova University is committed to providing "reasonable academic accommodations"
to students who are diagnosed with disabilities and seek accommodations. The
Americans with Disabilities
Act of 1990 (ADA) defines a disability as "a physical or mental impairment that
substantially limits one or more of the persons major life activities".
The Office of Learning Support Services serves students with learning disabilities,
other neurologically based disorders, and those disabled by chronic illnesses. All
Villanova students with disabilities have met the same competitive requirements
for admission as other Villanova students. Once admitted, students may request support
services in accordance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the
ADA. It is the responsibility of students to identify themselves to the Director
for Learning Support Services and submit for review current and complete documentation
of their disability. Given the specific nature of the disability, "reasonable academic
accommodations" will be determined on an individual basis.
Students with physical disabilities with questions or concerns about access and
support services should contact Steve McWilliams, Office of Disability Services,
610.519.4095 or at stephen.mcwilliams@villanova.edu
