LSS Primary Functions:
- Communicate established procedures to students and faculty for accessing services
- Review documentation and determine reasonable classroom accommodations
- Work with faculty in providing accommodations and other supports
- Work with students and parents in establishing a transition to higher education
- Provide alternate format for texts and tests when required
- Assist in locating notetakers for students
Secondary Functions:
- Provide tutoring, tutor training, and coaching support for students in content and/or executive functioning
- Proctor exams for students with conflicts and as a service to faculty
- Serve as liaison for faculty and parents
- Provide assistance to faculty and staff regarding disability referrals
and questions
- Respond to referrals from faculty, staff, and students regarding learning issues
- Establish and maintain web information for parents, students, and
prospective students
- Provide counseling and guidance to students on an on-going basis
Other LSS Services:
- Texts in alternate format and/or specialized software for eligible students
- Peer tutors for most 1st and 2nd year courses
- Time management, organization, and study strategies
- Learning style evaluations, coaching, and mentoring
Services for non-disabled students may include:
- Learning style evaluations and study strategies
- Informal assessment to determine need for diagnostic testing
- Referrals to on campus and off campus support services when appropriate
