The Associate of Arts Degree Program

The Associate of Arts Degree program is designed for students who are not seeking a baccalaureate degree but still wish to follow a specific curriculum. The Associate of Arts Degree program may be completed in half the time it normally takes to complete a baccalaureate program. The program requires 20 courses and a minimum of 61 credit hours. At least half of the credits (30) must be taken at Villanova. A 2.0 cumulative Quality Point Average is required to attain the Associate of Arts Degree. Students completing the program with a 2.0 average may continue toward the Bachelor of Arts at Villanova without loss of credit.

  • ACS 1000 and ACS 1001 for 6 credits
  • ENG 1050 - The Literary Experience for 3 credits
  • Foreign Language 1121 and 1122 for 6 credits
  • HIS 1050 - Themes in Modern World History for 3 credits
  • PHI 1050 - Intro to Philosophy for 3 credits
  • THL 1050 - Christian Theology: An Intro for 3 credits
  • ETH 2050 - Eth Trad & Contemp Life for 3 credits
  • 1 Fine Arts Elective* for 3 credits (designated courses only)
  • 1 Social Science Elective** for
  • Courses  Mathematics / Natural Sciences*** for 10 credits
  • 6 Free Electives for 18 credits

* Choose from courses so designated in Studio Art/Art History, Communication, Theatre
** Social Science Elective: Economics, Geography, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology.
*** Three courses in at least two science disciplines, with at least one course with a laboratory segment; several mathematics courses are available for liberal arts students.
