The General Arts major is an interdisciplinary major within the
College of Liberal
Arts and Sciences. Students in the program select a General Arts concentration in
one of the following areas:
- Humanities
- Social Sciences
- Independent Studies.
The Bachelor of Arts in General Arts is a degree program similar to majoring
in General Studies for a Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies . Both degrees require
the student to plan a course of study which cuts across different academic lines.
Such degrees allow for a student to define focus and prepare oneself for future
opportunities. However, the core requirements of the two degree programs differ. For
example, a Bachelor of Arts in General Arts has foreign language and lab science
requirements whereas the Bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies does not, allowing
you more electives. You need to consider both curricula in making your selection.
