SBI: Business Minor - One Summer *

This is the place.

Villanova University—with its strong liberal arts foundation, Augustinian values, and one of the best business schools in the nation—is the ideal place for you to learn the fundamentals of business.

This summer. Invest in your future.
Whether you choose to work in engineering, law, medicine, technology, the arts, education, the nonprofit sector, or start your own business, a firm grounding in business education will benefit you throughout your career—and your life.

A program designed for you.

The Summer Business Institute (SBI) at the Villanova School of Business is designed for undergraduate students and graduates with non-business majors. The program is in session for ten weeks during the summer, with on-campus housing available, as an option.

Are you up for the challenge?
SBI is a unique, rigorous program. You will learn about the basics of business through a broad range of integrated courses and cross-disciplinary topics—like Business Fundamentals, Competitive Effectiveness, and Financial Management and Reporting—that will help prepare you to succeed after graduation. Through a curriculum that emphasizes innovation, creativity, and hands-on learning—including corporate site visits—you will gain a solid understanding of the big picture of business.

Learn from dedicated faculty who care about your success.
All SBI courses are taught by Villanova School of Business faculty members—not by teaching assistants. These professors bring a wide range of expertise to the SBI classroom as teachers, researchers, and corporate consultants. They understand the practice of business, and how to teach you what you need to be successful.

Expand your horizons—and your credentials.
Villanova students who successfully complete SBI earn a business minor. Students from other universities earn an SBI Certificate. In both cases, your SBI experience will broaden your skill set, strengthen your academic foundation, build your professional confidence, improve your problem solving and decision making skills, and serve as an impressive credential on your resume.

Information Sessions

Throughout the fall and spring semester, informational events will be held at various campus locations. A list of Fall '09 events will be available soon.

Please note:
  • Students do not have to attend an information session in order to apply for SBI.
  • Non-Villanova students who successfully complete the program earn an SBI certificate.
* Non-Villanova students earn an SBI Certificate, the equivalent of a business minor.

"Students are realizing that they are far more marketable to recruiters if they have some business background. With the option of a business minor, a student can major in an area that interests him or her, and still be attractive to potential employers...Whether it's to find a job as a financial analyst, or to simply be able to prepare your own taxes, the value of the undergraduate business minor is clear.
