Engineers Week Brings the Energy
The College of Engineering celebrated National Engineers Week in February with a week of a special events and activities designed to bring the Villanova engineering community closer together. And since this year’s Engineers Week coincided with mid-terms at Villanova, Villanova engineers welcomed these opportunities to connect outside the classroom.
With student leadership from the Engineering Student Council, the week’s activities included a special liturgy on Sunday evening to kick off Engineers Week; the fifth annual Trivia Bowl, designed to stump the engineering students; the crowning of a new “Mr. CEER,” as voted on by engineering students; and an appreciation breakfast for faculty and staff to close out the week.
In keeping with tradition, engineering students also designed an official T-shirt to commemorate Engineers Week. Proceeds from T-shirt sales support engineering student programs.
Engineers Week also featured educational and networking opportunities at a special Energy Fair and “Careers in Energy” panel, through which students connected with representatives from Aztec Energy Partners, Air Products and Chemicals, The Energy & Environmental Research Center, Exelon, and PPL.
