POLICIES
SBI is 100% online and does not adhere to the standard Villanova Summer Session schedules. Students enrolled in SBI should be aware of some enrollment policies. Please see below for some important information to know before applying:
- SBI courses will appear on your transcript and calculate in your cumulative GPA. SBI0099 Excel and SBI1001 Business Fundamentals are graded Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory (S/U); all other courses receive a standard letter grade.
- VSB will directly enroll you in SBI courses. Final schedules are released in late April or early May.
- If students have not taken ECO10001 Intro to Microeconomics, they will be placed in SBI2005 Applied Economics. If students have taken ECO1001 Intro to Microeconomics, they will be placed into SBI3145 Managerial Economics.
- No transfer credit will be accepted for any SBI course. SBI is a unique summer experience, and students must complete all courses to earn the SBI credential.
- Courses in SBI range from 1 to 3 weeks. Because of the accelerated nature of SBI courses, no unexcused absences are permitted. In the event of legitimate personal or medical emergencies, enrolled students should contact their instructors as soon as possible.
- SBI class sessions are held via Zoom and students must use their official @villanova.edu email accounts to sign in to Zoom. Non-Villanova students enrolled in SBI will have a Villanova email address assigned to them when enrolling. Students trying to access SBI class sessions through a non-Villanova account may be denied entrance to the session and marked absent. We cannot accept non-Villanova accounts into Zoom sessions for privacy reasons.
- Students can drop their SBI courses up to the start of the second day of classes in Module I (Tuesday, 5/18/2027 at 10:00AM, EST for SBI 2027) without academic or financial penalty. After the start of the second day of classes in Module I, students are committed to completing all courses in SBI. No tuition refunds will be processed after the second day of classes in SBI have started, and the deposit is always non-refundable.
- If a student wishes to withdraw (WX) from the remainder of their SBI courses, they must do so before the start of the third day of any course. Students withdrawing from SBI courses are still financially responsible for all SBI courses and will receive a WX grade on their transcript. Students experiencing a personal or medical emergency that may no longer be able to complete SBI should contact vsb-ug@villanova.edu as soon as possible.
- Textbooks are not included in SBI tuition, but are covered by the Villanova Textbook Access Program, just as textbooks are covered in the fall and spring semesters. Students who are not enrolled in the Textbook Access Program must secure required course readings on their own.
- Students are not permitted to register for additional summer courses while enrolled in SBI.
- Unless otherwise noted above, academic policies in effect during the fall and spring semesters apply to SBI as well, including academic integrity and minimum grade requirements to pass a course. Please refer to the Office of the Provost's website for a full list of these policies.
