DEGREE REQUIREMENTS

The MSCpE program requires a minimum of 30 earned semester credits (10 three-credit courses) and one zero-credit seminar course.

The program includes a research thesis option or nonthesis option, as well as the following requirements:

  • 30 semester credit hours (10 courses), including 24 course credits and 6 thesis credits (when pursuing thesis option)
  • 3 elective credits or 12 elective credits with nonthesis option
  • Must maintain B average

If you choose the thesis option, you must complete an approved independent study course before you apply for your thesis. The thesis application requires a research proposal and recommendation and approval from the department chair, as well as a commitment to make an oral presentation prior to graduation.

    

MSCpE Admission Requirements

US applicants with a BS degree in Computer Engineering:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
  • Two letters of recommendation 

US applicants with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Electrical Engineering:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.25 out of 4.0
  • Proof of required BSCpE courses or their equivalent; ask an advisor for details
  • Two letters of recommendation 

International Requirements

Applicants with a BS degree in Computer Engineering from a non-US university:

  • Minimum GPA of 3.25 out of 4.0 or equivalent.
  • Minimum TOEFL of 90 or IELTS score of 7.0
