Biography

Lily Haddad is an immigration attorney whose work focuses on advocating for immigrants' rights and keeping families together by representing asylum-seekers and providing removal defense. Haddad is the clinical fellow with the Clinic for Asylum, Refugee and Emigrant Services (CARES), where she co-teaches the clinic seminar and supervises student advocates representing asylum-seekers and noncitizens.

Prior to her role as clinical fellow, Haddad specialized in detained removal defense and federal litigation at Palladino, Isbell & Casazza LLC, where she represented individuals in immigration detention in bond, asylum and cancellation of removal hearings, as well as in federal district courts across the country.

Haddad returns to Villanova Law as a faculty member after graduating with the class of 2023. As a student, she received the Clinical Legal Education Award for her work as a student attorney in the CARES clinic and the Dorothy Day Award for Pro Bono Service. In addition to CARES, Haddad interned with the Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center (PIRC) and the Center for Gender & Refugee Studies (CGRS). She spent the first two years of her legal career as an attorney adviser at the New York Immigration Court at 26 Federal Plaza through the Department of Justice Attorney General's Honors Program, where she drafted judicial decisions and assisted immigration judges in adjudicating complex cases.

Prior to law school, Haddad received a Fulbright Research Grant to Morocco, where she researched informal education and its effects on combating school attrition rates. She presented her research in Rabat, Morocco and Czechia. While in Morocco, Haddad volunteered with refugees and taught English and Arabic. She graduated from Villanova University with a bachelor's degree in political science and Arab and Islamic studies.
