Biography

Sara A. Lynch joined Villanova Law as assistant professor of law and director of the Health Law Clinic. She trains future lawyers through hands-on legal practice that emphasizes ethical, reflective and zealous advocacy. Health Law Clinic students work alongside people with serious health conditions and disabilities to secure health care and benefits that support dignity, community and self-determination.

Prior to joining the Villanova faculty in 2026, Lynch directed the Housing Advocacy Clinic (HAC) at Rutgers Law School in Camden, New Jersey. HAC student interns provide legal services to help tenants remain in their homes, support safe and sustainable housing, and build tenant power.

Before entering clinical teaching, Lynch served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Timothy J. Savage of the US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She also served as a staff attorney with the Community Disability Advocacy Project at Community Legal Services of Philadelphia, where she represented people with disabilities in Social Security disability applications and appeals and advocated to advance disability justice. Lynch began her legal career as a Penn Fellow at the Defender Association of Philadelphia, advocating for education rights for youth and challenging conditions of confinement in juvenile placements.

Lynch is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, where she was a Toll Public Interest Scholar, articles editor of the Journal of Law and Social Change and director of two social justice pro bono projects. She earned a bachelor of arts in Latin American and Latino studies from Fordham University. She also served as a Teach For America high school Spanish teacher in Nashville, Tennessee and as a Fulbright English Teaching Fellow in Medellín, Colombia.
