- Software Engineering Student's Thesis Project Featured in Radio World Cover Story December 2, 2022 - Graduate Software Engineering student Nick Langan '20 CPS is featured in the November issue of Radio World Magazine for his new free mobile app, RadioLand, which allows users to find "listenable" FM radio stations based on their location in North America. The avid radio enthusiast created the app for his master's thesis.

- Political Science Grad to Spend Fulbright Year in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina October 5, 2022 - Runa Annasdotter Neely ’21 MA, a recent Villanova Political Science graduate, earned a Fulbright U.S. Student Program Award for 2022-23. Neely will spend her Fulbright year in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, working on a research project exploring women’s political representation.
- New CLAS Endowed Dean Position Reflects Research of Graduate History Students September 7, 2022 - This August, Villanova University President the Rev. Peter Donohue, OSA, PhD, announced a $7.5 million gift from an anonymous donor to establish the William and Julia Moulden Dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS). The gift honors the late William and Julia Moulden, a Black, Catholic couple who provided crucial support to the Villanova Augustinians in the 19th century. Much of what we know about the Mouldens is the result of the research of History master's student Angelina Lincoln ’18 CLAS, ’20 MA, whose work has evolved into the ongoing Rooted Project, which explores the relationship of Villanova to minority communities in the Main Line and the Philadelphia region.
- Villanova Public Administration: New MPA Director, New Major New Modality Options September 6, 2022 - Over the past several months, the Villanova University Department of Public Administration worked to lay the groundwork for several initiatives and changes that launched this fall, including the hiring of a new director of the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program, the beginning of a new undergraduate major in Public Service and Administration (PSA), and the reorganization of its graduate course offerings to allow for greater flexibility and convenience for its students.
- Theology Professors Win 2022 Catholic Media Association Book Awards July 27, 2022 - Villanova Theology Professors Jonathan Yates, PhD, Gerald Beyer, PhD, and Ilia Delio, OSF, PhD, earned 2022 Catholic Media Association (CMA) Book Awards, which were presented at the CMA annual conference.

- Villanova Interdisciplinary Journal CONCEPT Showcases Graduate Student Scholarship June 6, 2022 - CONCEPT, the scholarly journal of graduate students in the Villanova University College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, launched its 2022 edition at a virtual event earlier this spring. The CONCEPT Graduate Research Prize was awarded to Sarah Stryker, a master's student in Theatre, for her paper, "All the Wonders: Phenomenology and Making Julius Caesar Affective Again."
- Villanova Theatre Professor James Ijames Receives the 2022 Pulitzer Prize in Drama May 11, 2022 - James Ijames, associate professor of Theatre in Villanova University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is the 2022 Pulitzer Prize Winner in Drama. The Pulitzer Prize for Drama is given to a distinguished play by an American author, preferably original in its source and dealing with American life. A playwright, educator, director and performer, Ijames was awarded the Pulitzer for his play Fat Ham, a “loose,” according to the playwright, adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
- History Graduate Students Curate New Exhibit for Villanova Art Gallery May 5, 2022 - Graduate history students celebrated the culmination of their semester-long public history practicum project with the opening reception of a new exhibit, Dox Thrash: Painted, Not Printed, in the Villanova University Art Gallery on Friday, April 29. The exhibit is open to the public through May 14 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
- Psychology Master's Student Wins 2022 Villanova Three Minute Thesis Competition April 29, 2022 - Villanova University graduate psychology student Sam Sinemus took first place in the University's Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition in the Mullen Center for the Performing Arts earlier this year for his presentation "The Impact of Modeling Mental States on Goal-Directed Conversations." Sinemus advanced to the Northeast Regional Competition, held virtually on April 28.
- Political Science Grad Focuses on Combating Inequities in Healthcare April 20, 2022 - During her time at Villanova University, Political Science master's program graduate Danielle Burns '20 CLAS, '21 MA, focused her research on archival recovery, racial and gender equity, and global politics. Today, she serves as a diversity, equity and inclusion consultant, working to create programs and initiatives to help combat health inequities and bias in the healthcare industry.
- Environmental Science Grads Embark on Diverse Careers April 21, 2022 - The Villanova University master's program in Environmental Science supports research in a wide range of scholarly interests that span the scope of geography, biology, chemistry and geology and intersect at the nexus of environmental issues. Students learn to see beyond linear and fragmented approaches to solving environmental problems to understand the complex interactions between people and the environment. Because of this philosophy, students are prepared for careers in government, academic or commercial fields, or to continue their education in top PhD programs. - Graduate English Students Present at Christianity and Literature Conference April 19, 2022 - First-year Villanova University English MA graduate students Hannah Kahn and Caitlin Salomon recently presented at The Conference on Christianity and Literature’s 2022 Western Regional conference, “Literary Geographies – Space, Place, and Environments,” held at Biola University in La Mirada, California, April 7 to 9, 2022.
- Villanova Psychology Announces Outstanding Thesis Award Winner March 28, 2022 - The Villanova University Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences is pleased to announce Jenah Black '21 MS as this year's Ingeborg L. and O. Byron Ward Outstanding Thesis Award winner. This award honors one Psychology master's student each year for a particularly excellent thesis and thesis project.
- Villanova Theatre Alum Pens New Play About James Forten for the Museum of the American Revolution March 25, 2022 - Villanova University Theatre alumna Marissa Kennedy ’18 MA approached the project with the same enthusiasm, determination and creativity that has propelled her budding artistic career. She also drew inspiration from a connection to her own family’s values that she discovered while researching her new play about the life of James Forten, written for the Museum of the American Revolution in Philadelphia.
- Theology PhD Student Earns Prominent Resident Fellowship to Further Research January 24, 2022 - Villanova University Theology doctoral candidate the Rev. Andre L. Price, MDiv, will be spending the Fall 2022 semester at the Collegeville Institute in Collegeville, Minnesota, as a Bishop Thomas Hoyt Fellow. The fellowship will provide Price, who also serves as senior pastor at Mount Olivet Tabernacle Baptist Church in Philadelphia, an opportunity to work on his dissertation, titled “God of our Weary Years,” and engage with other theological scholars from diverse backgrounds in research, community and prayer.
- Leaning into the Villanova Community: Graduate English Alum and Michigan PhD Student Shares Advice for the Graduate Student Journey January 24, 2022 - Olivia Stowell ’21 MA, a graduate of the Villanova University master’s program in English, recently completed her first semester as a doctoral candidate in Communication and Media at the University of Michigan. A researcher of race and ethnicity, especially within food and cooking television, Stowell published her first academic article “There’s Certainly a Lot of History Here, But We’re Here to Roast Oysters: Afterlives of Trans-Atlantic Exchange in Top Chef: Charleston” in the journal Television and New Media in January 2022. Presently, she’s co-editing a collection of essays on dark academia for Post45 Contemporaries to be published in February.

- Graduate Research Symposium Highlights Exceptional Student Work The Third Annual Graduate Research Symposium was held on Friday, November 12, 2021, in the Connelly Center. Each spring, graduate students in CLAS apply for competitive Summer Research Fellowships to support their research. We are proud to present the exceptional research conducted by this select group of students.
