UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS IN EDUCATION AND COUNSELING

The Department of Education and Counseling welcomes you to its website for undergraduate programs!
Our major and minor programs in Education and Counseling foster essential knowledge, skills and dispositions that embolden students to serve the diverse and individualized needs of their students, schools and communities.
In Education, students may select from the following programs:
- Major in Education
- Students select either the elementary PK-4 or secondary 7-12 certification program. These programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to prepare candidates for the Instructional Level 1 Certification required to teach in Pennsylvania’s public schools.
- PK -4 Elementary Education
- 7-12 Secondary Education
- Students select either the elementary PK-4 or secondary 7-12 certification program. These programs are approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to prepare candidates for the Instructional Level 1 Certification required to teach in Pennsylvania’s public schools.
- Minors:
- Combined BA/MA in Education
WHY EDUCATION AND COUNSELING?
Villanova University's Secondary Teacher Education program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to prepare candidates for the 7-12 Instructional Level I Certification required to teach in Pennsylvania's public schools.
Our rigorous curriculum provides candidates with the knowledge specific to their content area as well as professional education.
The teacher education program nurtures students’ capacity for critical thinking as well as the dispositions of intellectual curiosity, humility, and a commitment to social justice reflected in the ability to advocate for one’s students.
